Licensed General Insurance Professionals
General insurance brokers in Canada must be licensed by provincial regulatory bodies in order to conduct business. Each provincial broker association regulates the licensing, professional competence, ethical conduct and insurance related financial obligations of all independent general insurance brokers doing business in the province.
At PIB, our highly qualified general insurance professionals are provincially licensed, and also include team members who have earned the following additional industry designations:
CAIB – The Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) program is a national designation conferred by the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC). CAIB program graduates must successfully complete courses in insurance fundamentals and write a series of national examinations.
CIP – The Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation is the professional standard for those working in the property & casualty insurance industry today. The CIP program is governed by the Insurance Institute of Canada and requires participants to acquire insurance knowledge, develop critical thinking skills through a comprehensive set of courses, and be successful in the CIP national examinations.
CRM – The Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation is awarded by the Global Risk Management Institute (GRMI) to program graduates who have completed required standardized courses teaching how to identify, assess, monitor and limit risks.
