Comprehensive Property Insurance Coverage

Homeowners Insurance

Homeowners insurance protects more than just your house. PIB will help ensure you have the right coverage to recover from damages and loss so you can get back to your life. Coverage options include:

  • All-risk coverage for your home and contents
  • Extra living expenses incurred by you after an insured loss
  • Personal liability costs if someone is injured on your property
  • Voluntary payments for damage or injury caused by you or a family member
  • Claims protection endorsement to protect you from a rate increase if you have a claim
  • Identity theft

Condo Insurance

Your condo association’s insurance typically covers the building’s structure, shared spaces and original fixtures — but not what’s inside your unit. PIB will help make sure there are no gaps between your coverage and the association’s, including:

  • Personal contents (replacement cost basis)
  • Renovations or improvements made to your unit
  • Liability inside your unit and in common areas
  • Extra living expenses if your unit becomes uninhabitable

Rented Dwelling Insurance
(Landlord Insurance)

If you own one or more rental properties, protect your investment with the right coverage for your needs. PIB can help ensure you’re covered for:

  • Your building and detached structures
  • Landlord’s contents (maintenance equipment, laundry machines, common-area furniture)
  • Legal liability
  • Loss of rental income

Tenant Insurance
(Renter’s Insurance)

Your landlord’s insurance covers the building but doesn’t protect you, or the things that make your rental a home. If you rent your home or live in an apartment, PIB can help ensure you’re protected with:

  • Personal liability for incidents in your rental unit or affecting others
  • Coverage for personal property and contents
  • Extra living expenses if your unit becomes uninhabitable

Seasonal Property Insurance
(Vacation Property Insurance)

Whether your getaway is a family cottage complete with bunkie and boat house, rustic cabin, vacation condo or a mobile home, you need protection all season long. PIB can help protect your home-away-from-home, including:

  • Seasonal dwellings
  • Mobile homes
  • Mobile vacation trailers
  • Stationary seasonal trailers
  • Seasonal condos

Personal Items Riders
(Specialty Coverage)

Standard homeowner policies don’t always provide enough coverage for high-value items like collectibles, fine jewelry or cherished heirlooms. Our insurance specialists at PIB can help you protect your valuables with customized coverage that includes:

  • Worldwide protection for listed items
  • All-risk coverage, including breakage and mysterious disappearance
  • Flexible deductibles for scheduled high-value items

FAQs

Is Home Insurance mandatory?

There’s no federal or provincial law requiring Home Insurance. However, mortgage lenders usually make it a condition of your loan. Even without a mortgage, Home Insurance is strongly recommended — out of pocket expenses for repairs, liability or replacing your belongings can be financially devasting.

What is Tenant Insurance?

Tenant Insurance (also called Renters Insurance) protects your personal belongings, such as furniture, electronics, clothing and appliances if they are damaged or stolen. It also provides liability coverage if someone is injured in your space or you accidentally damage the building.

What does Condo Insurance cover?

Condo Insurance covers everything you own inside your unit, including your belongings, unit upgrades and liability if someone is injured in your space or you accidentally damage another unit.

Can I get insurance for a vacant home?

Homes left unoccupied for an extended time are considered “vacant” for insurance purposes. Special policies are available but often include strict conditions.  Seasonal properties (like cottages) used regularly during the year are not considered vacant and typically qualify for more flexible seasonal coverage.
